Question & Answers

#1 Can you explain to us what your typical day looks like at Vluid Digital?

I’ve spent most of my time on meetings, both with clients, or brainstorming with the internal teams.

I also regularly oversee each brands’ social media performance and make sure that the team consistently provides relevant suggestions and plan to continuously improve its performance.

#2 Biggest myths and misconceptions about working in Social Media?

It’s sad that up until now, there’s still people who think that Social Media is just about posting & replying to comments or DMs :’’((

In fact, social media is one powerful channel to support anyone’s business objectives.

#3 Your proudest professional achievement at Vluid Digital?

When the team managed to keep on going, support each other and give their optimum output despite the high pressure and deadlines that we’re familiar with during client’s big campaign.

#4 What drives you to work in your current industry?

I like new challenges and learning new things, which I can both get in digital marketing. Handling multiple clients with different products and target audiences is challenging yet exciting at the same time.

#5 Things you wish you could have learned earlier in your career?

I’m a self-taught digital marketer, with zero background in digital - as I studied management in college.

When I joined one of FMCG company as management trainee in logistic department, I realized that my passion is more into marketing, thus I moved to another company as product marketing.

This is where I found that “this is my call” which led me to where I am now.

I wish that I had better self awareness earlier, to speed up focusing on my career.

I have no specific resources.

Regular performance reviews, social media channels exploration, competitors monitoring, and updates on audience insights are the most effective ways to boost relevance towards the industry.

Sometimes 1-2x per year I attend global digital or marketing conferences (currently held virtually) to check on what’s trending in the industry.

#7 Your tips for someone who is interested in starting his career in Social Media Marketing (aside from applying to RevoU :)?

Understanding the rules, learning by doing, consistently implementing-improving-adapting are always the keys to success.

#8 The fundamental skills a Social Media professional is expected to have?

Agility and willingness to learn. As there’s always new things or updates in digital, especially in social media. What worked today might be obsolete in a couple months or even weeks!

#9 What distinguishes a good social media marketer from a great one?

A good social media marketer is one who can follow the rules of the game, yet the great one understands and knows how to twist it in order to beat the game. As for each brand, even the similar one can’t be treated the same.

#10 Best examples of Social Media brand activities (outside Vluid Digital) in Indonesia?

It’s a tricky question though, which I can’t answer specifically :D

However, for me, brands who always understand and put their position in audiences’ shoes will always win!
